I am driving from Cleveland to Cincinnati on I 71.
I have programmed all the MARCS frequencies (To whomever created the MARCS system page: GREAT JOB!).
My questions:
Does the HP still use lo band?

Also, what frequencies or talkgroups should I monitor for the aircraft enforcement?

Thank you
Dic

Correct the low band radios have been removed from the cars. Each county will have a disp channel and a TEC channel. The aircraft will use the TAC channel for that post, so if you are in Dayton, you may hear the aircraft on Post57TAC if it is working with 57 units.

In short the plane will come up on whatever post area it is working. With that said, some counties are covered by other posts.

Interesting! My scanner caught both freq's 45.100 / 45.020 "Active" on the road this week here in central Ohio as I took the liberty to program our former 'State' frequencies into a separate scanner bank. Both frequencies used to be assigned to the OSHP under F3, F4, or F5? This time, the apparent operator(s) were local fire departments or medics? This didn't sound right to me, so I'm guessing that I was catching 'birdie-bounces' off of other transmissions, or my on-glass mobile 800 MHz antenna was just playing tricks with me-lucky-charmed scanner.

Regardless, I have no clue. Out of curiosity, I always create a couple of scanner banks for local and 'former' frequencies just in case our agencies haven't totally abandoned them, but it never panned out until this week with state freq's.

Go figure...

I still see plenty of cars (at least in central Ohio) with low band spring-and-ball mount whips. So unless they took the radios out and didn't bother with the antennas, I'm guessing that some cars still have low band. I bet they just aren't installing them in new vehicles.

I have not heard any activity on their frequencies in a long time, though.

I passed a crash coming home from work this evening in the Worthington (I-270 / 315) area. Two on-scene OSHP cruisers had no low-band whips, nor did either of their driver's- side rear-panels have body-plugs where the spring and ball-mount whip would have originally been. My guess is that they're phasing-in new cruisers and their "Alliant?" or "Alliance?" radio system is now gone?

On that note... Rumor has it (for those in central Ohio) that the City of Delaware will introduce new black-and-white cruisers into the trenches sometime soon. For anyone into police car photography, be sure to check it out!

Correct, the new cars do not have any low band radios. Only MARCS and a VHF. It has been rumored even the VHF radios will come out soon.
