Hi. My Home Patrol came without a manual, just a brochure explaining a few simple things.
If there is one online somewhere I will search it out but I am lazy, lol.

When monitoring multi-site systems does the Home Patrol stop at the first control channel it hears (like the Uniden 396T) or does it skip from one to another like other newer scanners (maybe the 996XT or the GRE500 has that option).

Since I am supposed to keep my eyes on the road while driving I cant tell which site the scanner is 'seeing' and if it has the ability to move from control channel to control channel; I'll have to wait for my wife to decide to drive the long distances, lol and I can check it out in the passenger seat.

I appreciate any feedback.

Hello,

The HP-1 has a Help File as part of the Firmware/DB. Just Tap "Help" if you need assistance with something. The HP-1 supports Multi-Site Trunking, so it will Scan all Sites selected. Once it completes a Scan of one Site, it will Scan the next one and so on. No need to watch display while driving. :D

Thank you to Upman and Dave.

Upman, I am a loyal Uniden user, have been now for about 10 years and as much as I enjoyed programming and messing around with my older scanners this one , 'it completes me.'
You did a good job.

I have another question regarding the Home Patrol.

If i was to travel to Europe or Asia, will the HP-1 be able to scan for frequencies?
Or if i know some of the frequencies, will I be able to put it in and save it in favorites?

Do I understand it then that the HP-1 cannot do control channel only monitoring of a Motorola trunking system?

UPMan thanks. Sorry for being so dense. Must I enter a talk group ID in order to receive a transmission from a Motorola trunking system talk group or will the HP-1 automatically detect and pass though a transmission from any talk group that broadcasts?

On HomePatrol, you don't enter anything, nor do you need to know that it is any particular kind of system (trunking or otherwise) being used. Just enter your location and the kinds of things you want to hear (Fire Dispatch, Police Dispatch, etc). Or, put a channel you are interested in into a Favorites List.

It will not "ID Search," though.
