Maybe the base antenna is overloading the front end of the receiver. In this case, the mobile antenna in the house is attenuating the signal causing better reception.

Just one of many possible causes.

You could try using the attenuator function on the scanner while using the ST-2 and see if that improves your signal.

How long has your ST-2 been up? Checked out your feedline lately for integrity? Corrosion of the aluminum antenna elements? Loose fittings or connectors? Is your feedline so long that there is loss? Do you ever watch movies about gladiators?

i just a got my new Hustler MRM moble scanner antenna for my truck and i hooked it up in the house and it pulls in better then my ST-2 Base scanner antenna does
How long is the coax run for your base antenna? What brand, type, model, etc coax did you use? Does the MRM work better for ALL bands (low band VHF, high band VHF, 450 UHF, 800 UHF) or just one? Did you bring your MRM into the house or run some length of coax from it to the scanner in the house?

Without getting into tons of details, I will say that the mag mount on my truck does a better job on VHF low band than does my Discone. You have to realize that the antenna is only part of it; you must consider the ground plane. Your vehicle is a much better ground plane than is your house.

If you explain what you mean by that we can give you a much better answer. A little more detail please, less interference, stronger signals, what?

Just wondering if you have a magnetic base and what you have the antenna stuck to if so. Maybe it's the ground?

Rg58???

... what our friends are trying to say is if you are using RG58 coax on your house ant and it's 25, 50 or a 100 feet long AND you're trying to get UHF or 800 megs you're lucky to get anything at all because of sig loss... the mob whip uses RG 58 but it's only 12 ft long (it would work even better with RG8)...
