How do I find my school's frequency with a Baofeng UV-5R
I'm in the UK.Scan for it? Or you could look in the database.
If you could, I go to Gartree High School, Oadby LE2 5TQ. I really have no clue how to look for it in the database.I'm in the UK.

Okay. Then scan in metric?I'm in the UK.
How do I do that?Okay. Then scan in metric?
So like, how am I able to actually get into their channel? As in when they're talking, would I be able to talk on their channel and receive everything they're saying? And like, how?If said school's radios utilize a digital mode (DMR or similar) and/or encryption is in place then your Baofeng will do you no good.

Like that would be a bad idea and more than likely illegal. I would like return the Baofeng and concentrate on studying. So like, how am I able to actually get into their channel? It looks like the database is empty for Leicestershire County. So your best bet is to scan the bands until you find it. Then ask to have it added to the database. If you could, I go to Gartree High School, Oadby LE2 5TQ. I really have no clue how to look for it in the database.
No, just no. Whatever you do, do not do that. Listen if you wish, but you have no business talking on their frequency/frequencies unless you're invited. Here's something for you to listen to instead: Leicestershire County England Live Audio FeedsSo like, how am I able to actually get into their channel? Ok. Maybe ask the principal then and see how far you get.
No.Would these steps help me to get into their frequency?
- Turn on your Baofeng UV-5R radio.
- Press the VFO/MR button to switch to VFO mode.
- Use the up and down arrow keys to select the frequency range that you want to monitor. For example, you can select the VHF or UHF frequency range.
- Use the up and down arrow keys to select a specific frequency that you want to monitor.
- Adjust the squelch level to an appropriate level. The squelch function on your Baofeng UV-5R is designed to filter out background noise when there is no incoming signal on the selected frequency. Adjusting the squelch level too high may filter out weak signals and cause you to miss transmissions, while adjusting it too low may result in excessive background noise. You can adjust the squelch level by pressing the menu button, selecting the "SQ" option, and then using the up and down arrow keys to adjust the level.
- Listen for any transmissions on the selected frequency. If you hear a transmission, note the frequency and any other relevant information, such as the content of the transmission and the time of day.
- If you want to save the frequency for future use, press the menu button and select the "Save to Channel" option. You can then select a channel number to save the frequency to.
why not
noOk. Maybe ask the principal then and see how far you get.
