To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

If you computer has Bluetooth and the Bluetooth is active on the radio you don't need a cable. As far as the side cover a little tough to find but look around online.

This is my first attempt at programming a XG-100p with RPM14. I've been doing Motorola radios for 30 years, but this is a new learning curve. I didn't want to bother anyone, but I'm out of ideas.

I am stuck reading the radio with Bluetooth, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can get the radio to see the Bluetooth, choose a com-port in the Bluetooth setting and it sees the radio. Every time i try to read, Person window pops up, the radio type Say's P7100 even though i set it to the correct Radio Default Settings, after several minutes, i get Radio Personality Manger with " Could not initialize radio. Make sure radio is in programming mode, and the programming box or cable is connected to the correct port".

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to use Unity Product Management button/menu. Then click the bluetooth logo button.

Ok, slowly i'm figuring this radio out. Quick question, the radio did not come without the side cover/ dust cover. Where what i find one, also any idea where i would find the shorter 6 1/2" antenna ? i see them on eBay for crazy money.
Thanks for any help.

I tried to find you a dust cover with no luck. Usually the New London Technologies store has a lot of Harris stuff but a dust cover is something I couldn't find. I'd check their store for the antenna though

Ah. I was searching for it under XG100. Slipped my mind that I should search for XL200 too.

1. DO NOT stuff an SMA adatper on this radio - not designed for that kind of stress with coax and drapped off of it. Not easily field serviced if you break the antenna connector off, as a just discontinued product there is no depot level support from Harris now.

2. XG100P already supports wideband on 144-148 as well as marine band. There is no "Hardware block" filtering present. It's all software. NO, Harris will not grant you wideband for UHF ham use. Their legal department doesn't want to deal with it unless you have a 25khz waiver for part 90. Don't bother asking them.

3. I highly suggest you be extremely careful what you're doing for NAS on Harris. While they are actually capable of being 100% passive without any tricks or other non-sense like Motorola required they are not the same. The terms don't line up exactly between Motorola and Harris and setting stuff up wrong (there's 3 different ways to go about it depending on the system size and behavior) will cause problems.

4. Unity Product management is the tab used for these. USB or BT. They do not program like legacy Harris/Macom/EricssonGE stuff.

No. you will need the test cable that has a pigtail coax with a BNC connector.
That round antenna connector on the UDC is not SMA.

While its a bad idea to use a generic SMA adapter on these radios for hard professional use, its fine for occasional "amateur" use and to connect to test equipment. The stock connector without using the shroud is probably stronger than many other radios with SMA connectors.

There are dealers that have been wide banding XG-100Ps for amateur with no hassles.

What "dealers'??? There was a period of time where wide-band WAS granted on ham license only for UHF a few years prior.. Harris legal has since changed their position. It's a flat no without Part 90 waiver. 2m Ham is already wide band enabled. UHF is the issue. Also there is a large difference between demo radios through dealers vs what's sold to customers. At one time the XG100P supported Analog Smartnet Type II/Smartzone, interally only and never marketed.

Any radios floating around that don't have "wide band disabled" in their feature code pre-date 2013 Narrow-Banding.

At this point, hams clinging to 25khz wideband is irresponsible spectrum management. There's no excuse to continue wideband or for repeater coordinators to not grant 12.5khz spaced channels, but that's an issue outside of this thread.
