Just curious how you guys set your channels and LED colors.
I have a large channel group of all our CITY Police and a then have separate channels for each area.
I have the same for some others, set the LED for dispatch of police and fire to flash either Red or Blue.
I am thinking about putting all the Police TAC channels on a channel and all the EMS TAC and FIRE OPS on separate channels.

Just wondering how you experienced listeners organize your talkgroups

I just go by county for public safety, AARs by company (CSX, CN, CP, etc) Download all AAR channels (NXDN & splinters included) and assign the channels to the respective companies and not use the unassigned channels, The exceptions to this are Air, Ham, & Marine, ISS, NASCAR, & Military. I, Personally, don't like monitoring all at once as i would most likely miss something important locally.

I go by county for public safety and local government. For Police and Security I have my LED rapidly flash red, white and blue. For Fire and EMS the LED rapidly flashes red and blue. For DPW, Beach Patrol, OEM the LED rapidly flashes yellow and white. Wildcards slowly flash red. Utility companies are in a separate scanlist and the LED slowly flashes cyan. All businesses are in a separate scanlist and the LED rapidly flashes blue, yellow, red and green. (I like that combination the best!) All Amateur repeaters are in a scanlist and the LED slowly flashes green. Fereral agencies are in a sccnlist and the LED rapidly flashes red and purple.

I am thinking about moving all OPS and TAC to a Police Talk channel while keeping dispatches on a Priority Channel.

As far as public safety stuff, I tend or organize mine by city or county. Generally one scanlist for police/fire/ems, and another for the dogcatchers and dump trucks.

I also keep a scanlist of nothing but fire dispatch, and one of police tac/surveillance that cover all nearby localities. That allows me to quiet down the scanner and only hear prime stuff over wider area. If I want to hear police dispatch or fire/ems response tacs, I just turn the appropriate local scanlist back on. It looks like this

10 - Areawide Tac/Surv/Annc (Counties A & B)
11 - Areawide Fire Disp (Counties A & B)
12 - County A Public Safety
13 - County A Local Gov't
14 - County A Non-Govt
15 - County B Public Safety
16 - County B Local Govt
17 - County B Non-Govt

Listening to 10 and/or 11 just when I want the major stuff. Listen to some combination of 12-17 to get more detail or focus in on a particular call
