All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I suspect the answer to the question is gonna be like "DUH"!, but how do you determine the "A", "B" or "C" model of the HT1000? Each model has slightly different capabilities and I need to know so I can program mine correctly without locking out the radio.

When you look at the model number on the back of the ht1000 under the battery, the last two digits will be 'AN' 'BN' 'CN' or 'DN' the model number will start with the letter 'H' and be an alpha numeric sequence

That cannot be correct since the RSS gives only 3 "models" (or versions) that are supposedly available and a "D" is not mentioned. Unless the RSSI have is older and a "D" came out after the publication of my particular software. They only give an "A" "B" or "C" model (or maybe version) since I don't have the RSS page up right now. It did state that a certain few settings with the "A" model (version) are NOT compatable with the "B" or "C" and that programming the latter 2 with the settings from "A" could potentially lock up the radio. This is where I become confused since there is no "D" mentioned. I DO see what you refer to, but is there something else that would indicate the "version" I guess?

Just like was stated. The "DN" is the most desirable version as it does the most & I believe will do narrow band. One of mine says H01RDC9AA3DN. GARY N4KVE

For clarity, if you have the latest version of RSS, you can program any revision HT1000 (AN, BN, CN, or DN). The DN models were the last ones produced and are the most capable. I suppose model isn't a good name because it's actually just a revision designator and the entire string (as Gary above posted an example) is the model number and will ultimately determine what the radio is capable of.

There weren't that many distinct different HT1000s though. Mainly just 2 channel, 16 channel, DTMF keypad or not, etc. I hope this helps.
