I was lucky enough to find a good used Uniden HP 1 scanner. My question is related to startup. I keep the scanner on a timer that turns it off at 11pm and on again at 5am. Upon being turned on the question comes up: Charge batteries, yes or no? That is accompanied by two beeps, over and over until the question is answered. Is there anyway to bypass this? I rarely, if ever, take the scanner outside where I would need the batteries but I like to have them installed and working in case of power outages.
