How does the HP1 handle icalls? They are used often in the KCMO System and it's very easy to program the 396xt to pick up all of them...

Thanks,
Josh

Very good question! The current HP-1 doesn't decode I-Calls, since it simply receives what is programmed in the RR.com database.

The new HP-1 Extreme Edition has a trunked search mode, but folkd haven't talked about how it handles I-Calls.

I have the extreme upgrade installed but not sure how you listen to I-calls?

Select "ID Search" on the system you want to monitor I-Calls or enter
".0" into a memory slot if you want to hear them in ID Scan Mode.
Basically just like any other I-Call capable Uniden Scanner.

That's good to hear we can listen to I-Calls in Scan Mode....could you be more specific about entering ".0"...what exact keystrokes would we use to enter it in the memory for the trunk system in question? I guess having never entered anythingmanually in the HP-1, I'm a little stumped.

Thanks.

If you are doing it on the Unit and you wish to do ID Scan instead of ID Search simply create a Department named "ICalls" in the system in which you wish to monitor ICalls.
Then create a new channel and call it ICall. Then Do the following:
ICall.jpg

That's the "i" (Under the 7) followed by a zero (0).
The i will change to a period like above.
Select Accept and you should be good to go.
Note: If you are doing ID Search you should not have to do the above.
2nd Note: In Sentinel do the same thing except put in a TGID of "i0"
in a memory spot.
If done correctly you should see something like this:
ICall2.jpg

Then ICalls should start to show up on the display.

1. Be sure you've put the serial drivers where they need to be for your OS.
2. Connect USB and select Serial Mode (requres UPGRADE).
3. Using Hyperterm or other terminal package, select the correct COM port (will look like a standard serial port) and send:

cdb<tab>C<tab>1<enter>
(that is, hit the tab key in the designated positions).

Then to make a screen grab:
cap<enter>

Each send of cap grabs another screen. If you exit serial mode or reboot, the file numbering starts over (and the files are in the unit's HomePatrol directory accessible in Mass Storage mode).

Note that in scanning mode, you need to inhibit the record/replay features by running off of AC power and removing a battery. All menus are OK regardless of power state.

Paul (UPMan): I know the serial settings (8N1, no flow control), but cannot find the serial speed for the USB port in serial mode. I've searched just about every thread, thought I had seen it, but can't find it. I wanted to try the screen capture listed below (sorry for the offtopic of OP)

Using Windows Hyperterm I used the default setting for baud rate and am able to connect.

Setting up a new connection in Hyperterm for the serial USB com port (com12 in this case) shows a default speed of 2400 bps.. I gotta believe that the USB based serial interface on the HP1 is faster than that to shove all the data they're using for apps such as the sample POC remote control (which works w/my laptop)..

I ran it at 115200, but it also ran at 230400 (despite the driver's max apparently being 128000).

I don't know, but- I finally remembered to check Device Manager and on both an XP (USB1.1) and a Vista (USB2) box the properties say 9600, with all the rest as Paul said. Hyperterm will autodetect, so if you set it high, it just downrates.. I guess question answered..thanks for the replies !

I did the i0 iCall trick and it works great, but for some reason the delay is zero and scanning resumes as soon as the carrier drops. The channel delay is set to 2 seconds. Any ideas?
