If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

HP782 Volume Issue

Anyone know if the new HP782 firmware update fixes the massive volume jump from 1 to 2 on the volume menu? It goes from quiet to blasting loud for me on the previous firmware. Everything else is working fine so I don't want to upgrade if it's still doing the same thing.

Thanks all.

I don't notice that on mine at all. On the HM, very much so, however that seems much better with the latest update.

I upgraded to the latest firmware and I do notice an improvement on the volume issue I was having. Now I notice less of a jump from 1 to 2 but a larger jump from 2 to 3. I guess they are getting there. Thanks everyone for the replies.

I have send an email since we got the H series as a demo pre release about the voice announcement being WAY to loud. All they need to do is add a box in the CPS to adjust the min voice notify volume level like they have a box for EVERY-OTHER-AUDIO-OPTION on the radio

3 years later and still no stupid box to change that. The HM is far worse to the point we cant even use voice files because its way too loud inside a vehicle. The HP have to turn the volume off then change channels and then turn the volume back up if your inside because yeah its still rather loud. just deployed a 6 HP782 last week and the customer was saying hey... even on volume level 1 these are stupid loud in the office... caaaaaan you set a button to shut that off? so had to add the voice on/off button for them
