To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I think N1GTL is right. You can only scan 16 channels at a time. You can set up different banks of 16 channels and have to push buttons to get to the bank you want to listen to. I don't find the scan feature to be too great. Radio has a slow default scan speed for the scan to kick back to your primary channel. Scan speed is adjustable via programming software.
I know there is only 16 ch. per scan, I am trying to figure out if I have 16ch set in first scan bank and 16 in the 2nd scan back how do I get the second scan bank to scan. What do I have to put on the radio. ie the first scan bank I have all on the town I live in, the second scan bank I made is what I need to scan when I am working. How do I switch from the first to the second scan bank. Thanks
Each channel has a scan list assigned. Whatever channel you are on when you enable scan, that is the list that will be scanned.
It is simple to understand once you get it but kind of hard to explain.
Create 2 scan lists, LIST 1 and LIST 2. LIST 1 should scan channels 1 - 16 and list 2 should scan channels 17 - 32.
In channels 1 - 16, assign each channel to LIST 1. It is one of the tabs in the personality. You have to go to EVERY CHANNEL and select LIST 1 in the dropdown.
In channels 17 - 32, assign each channel to LIST 2.
Now, when you are in ZONE 1 (1-16) and enable scan, it will scan those channels.
When you are in ZONE 2 (17-32), it will scan those channels.
yes it should work like that even if you put one chan that is in your first list in the second list say you have ch 1 -16 in list 1and you want ch 1 in your second scan list you can do that too thats the way i have my radio set up ch 5 has a diff scan then the rest but i still have ch 1 in my second scan list
