• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok, I'm trying to set up our radios to be more safer and user friendly.

I want to program the red button on top to be a MAYDAY button, meaning when they are in trouble, hit the button and it alerts all radios on our interior channel that there is a mayday and what radio is calling it. I have the second part of that already done (for a while actually) with the MDC-1 system; every radio has an ID. Example: the portables on engine 59 are numbered 59D1 through 59D4, the same goes for all other apparatus. The mobile radios are id'ed as 59D0, and yes they are maxtracs.

I've enabled the emergency button and went through the signalling configiration. I set it up as standard, then set the emergency revert to our interior ops channel.

sent plug and it accepts. Now I did this to a couple radios, when i pressed the red button, the screen will say Emerg in prg, meaning its sending that its in emergency mode. The radio will automatically transmit every 3 seconds or so, however its not transmitting that its a mayday, OR the mdc-1 encoding (which radio)

What am I doing wrong and how can I set this up to how I want it?

You are not doing anything wrong. What you are trying to do cannot be done with those radios.

Yes HT1250 radios can decode MDC ID's however when an emergency is transmitted it send a different data packet then the normal MDC ID which cannot be decoded by the 1250's.

In order to decode an emergency signal you need to find a radio with that specific function.

For instance a CDM1550 has the ability to decode the emergency signals.

I believe that it designed this way because in most cases you want the signal decoded by the dispatch console which in turns sends back a signal to the radio acknowledging the signal was received which reset the radio.

If you were to have multiple radios acknowledging the emergency there is a good chance that it would never make it to the console or for the matter any other radios then the 1st one that acknowledges it.

Not my best explanation but hope it helps.
