The Hudson, NH Fire dispatch frequency (153.9500 PL 136.5) was down for a few days (with dispatch moved to the 155.95 P25 FG frequency).
However, it now appears that Hudson Fire dispatch is now also broadcasting in P25 mode.

from my little monitoring as a tourist to 603, Hudson had been using P25 on 153.9500 for a few years now, alternating between Analog and P25 depending on the Event

The difference now is, however, they're primarily P25 and not analog.

Police still 60-70% encrypted? Seems to be from my transient monitoring passing through the area weekly...

Sounds about right. I live in Hudson and have found dispatch encrypted but the cruisers are often not encrypted.

I also live in Hudson and am new to scanning. I just picked up a BCD396XT compact. I was able to program Nashua fine with the help of freescan but am having a hard time inputting the data correctly for my hometown of Hudson. Would anyone be able to provide some help? I have watched so many videos and my head is spinning.

What exactly is giving you a hard time? Hudson runs a handful of non-trunked, digital frequencies. The listings in the RR Database give you everything you need.

Hudson looks very simple to me. FreeScan either doesn't allow NAC entries or I've been too lazy to figure it out so I'll put the channels in as digital only and then save the nac codes as they come in.

As noted above, dispatch tends to be encrypted while the officers responding back to Dispatch are in the clear. And on many calls with high risk they open up both sides..

So from the image you can see that Hudson is programmed as a conventional quick key within a conventional system.

Ok so that's how it should look? I'm a complete novice. I was attempting to input it as P25 as earlier posts mentioned they were on P25.

That's how I have it programmed and I also use the BCD396XT. I think you're getting confused between trunking and non-trunking (i.e. conventional). Nashua is a P25 trunked system whereas Hudson runs several P25 conventional channels.

For me, I have a system called Nashua that is entered as "P25 Standard (Digital XT)" in Freescan. And for Hudson I created a Conventional system called New Hampshire Conventional. Within that system I have a group called Hudson that has their P25 digital channels stored in it (the image in my last post).

There is one other thing you can do just to make this all extra confusing for you. You can enter any conventional P25 channel as its own system by choosing the "P25 One Freq Trunk (Digital XT)" option in Freescan when creating a new system. That will essentially treat the conventional P25 channel as a single frequency trunking system. That said, I can't think of a reason to do this with the 396XT. I actually do use this type of system with my new SDS100 because setting it up that way will display the unit IDs of the radios. Then if you map out the unit IDs you can assign alpha tags to them. e.g. Unit 10201 = "Engine 4 Officer". I am a bit curious now so I think I'll set up a P25 One Freq on my 396XT and see if it gives me anything extra.

I also just now realized that in Freescan if you deselect "Simple View" you can store the P25 NAC codes. And here I've been search/storing them for years.

If you're still having trouble I can send you my Freescan files for the area so you can play around with them.

Thank you Andy. I can now hear Hudson.
