Is anyone in this forum close enough to Huntsville to monitor the MOT Type II Smartnet Public Safety System?

I am asking because I have been receiving quite a lot of static and a high pitch "squeal" within the last month from all TG's, whether the bank is opened or closed.

I wonder if it is in fact the system or maybe my Pro-95 has a problem. I have to use ATT when I am in doors most of the time, but not outside.

Either way the "background noise" is still present.

Thanks,
Ken

The online feed is 10-02! So its most likely your scanner.

Another question in regard to this noise issue with my PRO-95.

Do any of you think that resetting it would help?

Or shoud I try to initialize it and reprogram it just to see if it helps?

Thanks,
ken

Does it sound like a sort of "fuzzing" sound? My 95 had this problem, and I found simply erasing the trunked system that had the problem and reprogramming it seemed to do the trick (I don't know about initializing, mine wouldn't do it).

Yes it is a "fuzzy" sound and also some high pitch "squeal" at times, but not always.

Thanks for the advice, I may try that.

Pardon my ignorance but the database says the system is analog. Is that still the case? Secondly does anyone have an ARC246 file for Huntsville before I type it up??? I'll be visiting your fine city this June and plan to bring the BC246T with me!
Thanks,

Justin,

The system is Motorla Smartnet Type II, it is analog, but is still a trunking system.

I have an older Uniden scanner and I input the frequencies as FM and I can hear them, I usually only hear half the conversations. The CC will hang though......

I tried this last night, but had no luck with it. I might initialize it and see if that helps.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Paul,

"Rebanding" may be sooner than later. FCC shows Tallapoosa Co's TRS has been rebanded (YE) and the frequencies did change. The system dropped frequencies above 857 MHZ. Will have to wait till the system comes back on-line to see if it changes to Type II or stays a Type I

Licensees in the 809-815/854-860 MHz Band are not required to relocate. So HPD will not change.

Some of the freqs won't change, some will. A quick check at the 800TA website shows that some of the channels will.

http://www.800ta.org/content/800Mhz/call_sign.asp Just turn of your pop-up blocker and then enter Hsv's callsign in the field and click the GO button.

Hsv's callsign WPHI451

It seems to be mostly CC's too. Does that mean I am done whenever they reband, without buying a new scanner?

I am currently using a PRO-97, but I don't think it will be of much use after the transitions.

I'm in Huntsville. No squeal here. Sounds fine to me.

I don't hear it anymore, but then I don't listen to my PRO-95 much anymore either.

I do hear some static from time to time though with the PRO-97.

Do you listen to PD Common TGID 272? It is never really clear on my scanners.

Thanks,
Ken
