Does anybody have any reports of NOAA Hurricane Hunter Aircraft activity on HF? Lots of flights being reported.

NOAA 49 and NASA 817 have been up on 8918 w/ New York OAC according to reports on HFmonitors.

8918 is a member of the CAR-A MWARA family. Time to load up the CAR and NAT families...

Oops, I should explain that term - when discussing MWARA frequencies, each grouping is sometimes referred to as a 'family'. And note that it isn't unusual for a frequency to be a member of more than one family.

They've also been known to use the HF-GCS system, or 13927 USB (I think that's the right freq- it's a MARS frequency) if the satellite links aren't working....73 Mike

I am hearing NOAA 43 up with New York on 8918 as we speak.
Comms are weak out this direction but able to hear both sides.

Yep I am using the Wellbrook as my primary receive antenna. Here is the audio of New York wkg NOAA 43.
It was still daylight here on the west coast, so their signals were not very strong.

Quite; at 9:51 your time, that's nearly 1am on the East Coast, and we're in full darkness. Good catch....73 Mike
