Monroe County - Post Irma Comms
Also in Monroe County (they keys) It looks like many of the federal agencies are piggybacking on the Monroe County Public Safety trunk system. They are using Tac and other talkgroups that aren't normally used. Some of the talkgroups aren't in the RR database so set your scanner to open to find all the talkgroups.
You can hear National guard, staging areas, Red Cross, FEMA all talking to eachother on different talkgroups on that system.
It's nine different sites (and the site locations are very obvious in the RR database) going down the keys so you will have to switch sites as you move but they are all simulcast so you will hear the same stuff on any site you choose. Except Key West, they limit traffic to just their site. In dispatches they also refer to almost everything as "Mile Marker XX" as there is only one major road in the keys so it's easy to follow even if you aren't too familiar with the area. Any street address on the Overseas Highway (US1) corresponds to the mile marker as well. 88000 Overseas Highway is at mile marker 88.
Here are the sites in geographical order North to South (or east to West) and I actually only use the sites marked with a * and it all works fine for receiving. So you really only need the four sites and you will have enough coverage to hear everything while you are driving the length of the keys. My radio is fast enough to scan through the four systems and not miss anything so I just leave all four on the whole time when driving around. (you really only need all 9 sites if you are transmitting)
