I drive from Port Saint Lucie to Pembroke Pines (from St Lucie County to Broward County) and back daily.

Since I obviously can't monitor FHP for road hazards, I was thinking about monitoring the Road Rangers. Is that a viable option? Is there a better way/option?

That's a good question. I drive that stretch almost daily too. The only frequency I'm aware of is 453.575 which seems to be turnpike service vehicles. I frequently hear them reporting flat tire repairs, out-of-gas vehicles that need fuel, and abandoned vehicles from Boca to Stuart.

I'd like to know if the I-95 road rangers have set frequencies and if so, what they are.

if you have a web device, I use these live dispatch pages:
I-95 FHP Incident page: http://www.flhsmv.gov/fhp/traffic/crs_h302.htm (seems to be messed up for the moment)
Turnpike FHP page: Florida Highway Patrol - Traffic
Palm Beach DOT Incident page: Palm Beach County - Interim Traffic Management System
Those are good for traffic because they stay up till the cops/dot leave. Another that is good for the fire dept is the PBCFR live dispatch Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Live Scanner but that is only good while the PBCFR is on scene or enroute. If they are done with the scene, the event is removed, but there still could be a 3 hour cleanup.

I liked that smartsunguide page, pretty cool, adding to my list.
