• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I need a friend who can give me a GTR8000...sheesh.

Usually...Green is good, red is bad.

an unlocked TX synthesizer would be bad. Address the failed issues first.

I'll take it you don't have a lot of experience with GTR series base stations, or repeater grade hardware in general? Do you know what an exiter is? Do you know why that one has failed?

Thinking about the alarms a little more, it may be set for trunking and simulcast. It doesn't appear to have the the option board so no internal reference oscillator and without that it won’t work.

You will need to SWDL to a conventional BR. And without that option board or an external reference it won't work.

+1 on a friend giving me a base radio....heck I work in the field and cant get one....

Anyway as said you need the SWDL to change it to a BR. If you plan to use this narrow band you need old swdl as anything after 7.18 will only allow narrow band programming. You can use old swdl, set for wide and program then upgrade.

As reference you exciter is faileld becasue it has no 1pps signal. Lan failed as there is no cable plugged into the network jack. The Infastructure link is failed as its not talking to a comparator.

Just to clarify, a short search on eBay brings back an average sale price of $5-7k for the GTR8000, not including controllers, etc. Like I said, either deeper pockets than sense, or we're about to find ourselves in the middle of the proverbial pasture.... :ROFLMAO:
