I had no idea that FM signals could skip. I am in Eastern NC, and I was listening to NYPD on 477.1125 MHz last night. Specifically Queens, NY. Some interesting traffic on that channel...

However, I did not know this could happen. Then I realized that some other PD from somewhere was skipping all over my local Dispatch... I am guessing that can get quite annoying for any PD...

Yep, and for VHF scan the NOAA WX channels. If they are all coming in expect strong VHF-HI propagation.

A frequency will skip regardless of the mode. You should have tried the tv as well. That's better than normal tropo. Hey, got BBQ?

According to the tropo forecast, it looks like I'm gonna hear the Canadian National Railroad (CH 7272) dispatcher coming from somewhere out of Iowa, blast out of my cab radio again tonight. Very strong last night too, due to tropo.

We had to switch channels to coordinate operations.
