Hi all,

I have a few questions about my Icom 208H,

Is there anyway to stop the IF, when im near a cell tower or a repeater tower it just gets terrible interference, to the point where I cant have the volume up...really bad...i know they have a reputation of a IF box but this is rediculous.

Also is there any firmware updates??any tips or tricks i should know about it? Ive done the extended TX mod but thats it...I was hoping there was a nice new firmware out..

Cheers

By "IF" I assume you mean interference, not intermediate frequency.

Look at page 16 of the 208's manual. The squelch attenuator will provide up to 10 db of RF attentuation if you set it correctly. The other thing you can do is to set your receive channels for PL or DPL which will keep the "interference" which is really intermodulation from occurring.

I have owned and run three 208's for many years and I live in the most RF polluted environment in the US and my mobile unit does not have any intermod problems.

Moved to the Ham Radio Equipment forum. Please don't improperly post in the Professional Radio forums, thanks.

If you don't have the operating manual I suggest you download same from Icom or some other source. PL and DPL, or DCS as some call it, are all explained in the manual for the 208.
