• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Icom F5061 - corrupted eeprom - successfully reflashed firmware - no TX but RX OK?

I corrupted the epprom in my F5061 after I attempted to write an .icf file from another "identical" radio in order to save time inputting 100 channels :(

The effect of the eeprom corruption was to cause the F5061 to starting TXing as soon as the radio was switched on as well as being unable to write back the original .icf file. None of the front keys worked apart from the on/off switch.

I recovered the radio by reinstalling new firmware ( v5.5 rather than the original v1.0 firmware). I was able to write a new .icf file and the radio is RXing OK although it was originally a bit deaf until I realigned the BPF's. Its now RXing with good sensitivity.

BUT there is NO TX. When I press the PTT, there is no red LED and no output. The radio was previously TXing (albeit when the radio was powered up instead of RXing!!!)

The F5061 was always connected to an antenna when it was TXing at boot up - so hopefully the PA is OK.

I have checked out the ADJ alignment software and attempted to adjust the PLL TX lock voltage but I get a "Auto Adjust failed" message when I run the TX PLL Lock Voltage adjustment (TX LVA). The RX LVA1/LVA2 PLL auto adjustment works OK. I manually inputted various TX LVA lock values but still no TX.

Maybe there are hidden "factory" parameters which were lost after the eeprom corruption and which are not accessible via the ADJ software?

Maybe I can use the Maker Reserve feature to copy and write an .icf file from an identical radio so that any hidden parameters are carried over?

Maybe there are some other "visible" ADJ parameters (not hidden) which need to be aligned correctly. I noted down the ADJ parameters from another fully working F5061 and in most cases they were in the same ball park as the "corrupted" radio...except the RX BPF's and some TX MOD parameters (eg. corrupted vs OK radio : MOD WSL 2 and 12, MOD WSH -2 and -4 etc) but I don't think the MOD adjustments would stop the radio TXing??

Any ideas?

Thanks
