• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone. I am brand new to these forums, so my question my be better asked in another forum, but ya gotta start somewhere.

I have an ICOM IC-A22 handheld transceiver that I want to use as my primary communications radio on my Experimental aircraft. The radio seems to work fine as a handheld, using the built in speaker and microphone. The problem starts when I try to use it with my Telex Status 50 headset. I am using the recommended headset adapter (OPC-499) but the volume through the earphones is very very low. In flight you can not hear anything at all. Also, though the push-to-talk switch seems to trigger the transmitter, the mike does not modulate. No voice is heard by others although they can hear the mike "click" when I press the PTT switch.

Has anyone ever run into this type problem before? ICOM support does not seem to have a clue.

Thanks,

Propwash Pete

Hi Pete, The only thing that I can suggest is check the Batteries, in the headset, they may need to be changed.

Same result with a different headset. This time with an older headset that does not use batteries since it is not an ANL headset. Thanks, grumps96. I'll keep experimenting.

I am not familiar with the AC22,but I know on some of the Icom LMR portables, you set the audio input from the speaker microphone.

I think I have solved the problem. There was obviously a short circuit between the earphones (me). I had some of the switches on the headset set incorrectly. The volume is now normal and it appears my mike is now modulating.

A new problem has arisen, though ... the audio is badly distorted and difficult to understand. There is also a superhetrodyne squeel when I key the mike. This could be a Telex problem and I will contact them.

Thanks for all your help.
