I'm not quite sure about using ID Tracker III, so I was wondering if someone could help clue me in.

Am I correct that this program can be used to find talk groups on a trunking system that aren't known already?

How does that work? When I have the program running, it's just looking at the systems I have programmed in my scanner. Do I have to do something to the scanner to let ID Tracker look across a wider range?

Thanks ahead for the help.

When you use the ID Tracker software to log Newer/Unknown talkgroups.
You need to put your scanner in "ID SEARCH" mode. It will find those unknown talkgroups that isn't in your scan list...

I wrote ID Tracker to assist in finding unknown talkgroups and frequencies. By placing the scanner in search mode and recording the audio, you can then come back later and review the audio. ID Tracker separates the audio files by ID and keeps an index of transmission timestamps, audio segments and radio IDs. You can add comments to audio segments. Using all of this and some detective work, you can determine what groups are using the IDs.

I lot of people use ID Tracker just to record the action and play it back later.
