Identify Antenna?

Hello,

I'm an antenna noob, but I've recently bought an apartment and there is a coaxial cable connected to a large antenna on the roof.

Does anyone have an idea what it is for?

Looks like a low band ground plane. Is it hooked to anything? If it isn't and the end of the coax comes to your apartment, then put it to good use, hook it up!

Yes, the coax leads to my apartment, what would it be good for? Which bands? They were going to remove the antenna the other day, i told them to leave it there.

Low band, man. It should work real good for any scanner.

Cant beat that hook it up and give it a try, the only thing you would be out is possibly a connector to get it hooked up to your scanner. Good Luck Hoser

The apartment was once used as an office. Do you think this was used for a taxi company? or would it have been for a ham?

Looks more like an old CB antenna. Approximately how long are the ground radials?
