This is my 02 WRX, my back road machine!
For the comms there is a CB, 246T & a UHF. I hardly use the UHF unless I am deep in the mountains due to the frequency's it uses. CB is a CB and the 246T is programmed with pretty much every frequency in Alberta (only Calgary trunked).

Here's a few pictures

Sweet !!

Nice Setup! I really liked the last pic. It is always good to see some one who bought a WRX for all the right reasons and isn't afraid to get it dirty

Nice pics.. I am (still) working on putting my 996 into the top pod mount on my 07 WRX. Currently I have a magmount on the trunklid, but I may move it to a lip/fender mount by spring/summer.

Nice bugeye too. You a part of the ASC? Were you out for the Kananaskis rally last month? Lot less ice on the Powderface in your pics. :)

Top pod as in where the clock is, or radio? I was thinking of getting a VHF in where my am/fm radio is, then sticking a deck in the extra space. The trunk lid mount works great, i have a few different antennas i stick on there depending on where i am and what i am doing.

I am a part of the ASC, on there i am 02Wrx, usually in the technical department lol.

I did not have the opportunity to make it out there for the rally, i think i have read a few posts and seen a few pictures on it, looked like a blast. what does it take to get into that little gig, probably a roll cage & 5-point harness or something to that extent?

Yeah, top pod = clock pod. The stereo in the 07 is a double DIN and I don't have an aftermarket one, so I figured I'd leave it as is. I could, however, put the 996 in there and a single DIN pocket (Subarugenuineparts.com has them), but I thought the top mount would be easiest - and I have that hardware already (just need to dremel out the opening on the pod shroud so I can fit the 996 thru it).

I am (drumroll) Jay911 on ASC. I'm usually complaining about not getting my nearly-stock WRB WRX spotted. :D

I suspect you would have to cage the car and have proper safety equipment to participate in the rally. I myself wasn't racing (the car is still mostly the bank's, truthfully), but I rode the towtruck and got to see the race from some good points. I think they're moving Cochrane Winter Rally this year from March into January (19/20 last I heard), so keep an eye out for it - as well as the national event Rocky Mountain Rally in the end of May.

Awesome Jay911, maybe we can meet up the next time there is some Rally stuff going down.

dl20 --> It sits just barley above the wipers, it goes through the middle of the two. I still can get KA band from up to 4 km away so im fine :)

I would have went with all black antennas, and more of them. That being said, I give you 9.9 out of 10 points for not being a cotton-candy-ass with your car in both your radio install and your driving :D

Haha thanks Grog, its all about getting out on the dirt.

I was hoping I could find black whips, but functionality is a little more of a concern to me than appearance.... unless you have some back whips sitting around we maybe can work something out.

Oh. and I will try to get a picture of how the scanner is hardwired in now... still working on the power situation thought... need some fuses
