Looking to purchase a inexpensive used scanner for Mil-Air. Which would be the better choice of these two? A Realistic Pro2006 or a Pro433. Obviously the Pro433 is newer and has more features. But I've always wanted a 2006 and have heard they are great Mil-Air radios. So which should I get?

What are you looking for? Something to carry around or something that scans mil air fast?

If something to carry around, I have no clue.

If something to scan blazing fast,,,

Thanks for the help y'all! I am looking for something to put in my shack to listen to on an outside antenna. The bct15x is a good choice but out of my budget right now. That's why I was asking between the 2006 and the 43 which is the better choice. Preferably from folks who have used these two scanners.

The Pro 2006 is a Great mil-air scanner! I have a “Bill Cheek” special that I modified
with carrier receive, center frequency tune, s-meter, all of these are led’s.
The only drawback to the 2006 was the back light for the lcd display.
The brightness of the display got weaker and weaker over the years and eventually
went completely out.
There are people that have replaced the back lighting, and it has been discussed here on RR.
If you are able to find one, make sure and check out the brightness of the back lighting.
FWIW you can’t go wrong with the BCT-15X, I have 2 and they are my go to for aviation
communications (mil-air & civilian air).
Good Luck,
73, Rex

If you went with an Airspy mini, that scans mil air and any other range pretty fast.
I probably will try that at some point. But, I don't have a computer in my shack. Don't you have to plug it into your computer to work.

Should I be concerned with what operating system is installed on it. Would it be fine as long as it was a Windows version!

I think I have a few 2006s in my garage if your still hunting for one. Also may have a bare bones desktop PC I can let you hook you up with. Send me a Pm if you want to talk more.

I appreciate it but I bought a 2052 to try. Thank you though.
Take an inventory of the caps on the circuit board and start ordering them. Get the same values and a little higher voltage. Be prepared to change a few. Also, the display's backlight is easily changed to LED, get the proper voltage and when changing them out take care to not destroy the amber plastic/rubber diffuser that slips over the bulb. you will need it to slip over the LED when changed. I also tapped into the speaker wires and put a female two pole speaker jack in it. The speakers are good on the scanner but when you stack them, you'll need external speakers which are 8 Ohm. Good luck!
These scanners are fast! On the air to ground communications, I do not program any delay on the frequency, you'll only receive one side of it. I only program the delay on air to air and close by airports which I can receive.

I picked up a PRO-2045 for a good price for mil-air and works well being an older scanner.
.
With the PRO-2052 you won't be able to monitor the AM in 138-144 range, since it's fixed at FM.
