I purchased a new Toshiba computer and now I am having trouble finding a cable that will work with it. I cannot down load to my scanner because my old cable wont work / plug into computer.

Pro 96

I have a pro 96 about 2yrs old. I will look again for the correct cable. I guess I should go in to circut city and show them the laptop I have. I also would like to get a antenna that can go on roof. Any ideas? Thanks

This is the wrong forum for antenna questions, tenley. We have an antennas forum dedicated to questions like this. Thanks much for your cooperation.

However, I will say that if you are living in the DC area, putting a rooftop antenna on the 96 may not be such a good idea, as it's quite likely to overload. (the closer you are to DC, the more true this becomes...). When you post in the Antennas forum be specific about what you are trying to improve on hearing.

In addition to Mike's (ka3jjz) response, if your name here reprents your neighborhood near a certain circle, you're very close to "intermod alley". It will not be hard to desense your receiver due to overload.

Get either the RadioShack USB programming cable (usually around $25) or go with a USB to 9 pin serial adapter. Those are really your only two options.
