I’m having major issues with Scottish VOLMET blasting through all nearby frequencies. I’ve attached a video to show the problem.

I’ve tried a number of things but can’t find a solution.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How far from the transmitter site are you? Which sort of external antenna are you using?

That is classic signal overload, where there is too much signal.

Does a notch filter exist for these freqs? If so, looks like you need one. The nearby signal is overloading your scanner and should be notched out to minimize impact.

Can’t get one sharp enough to avoid knocking out nearby frequencies that I want to listen to.

Any idea which models do that?
As one example, according to the owner's manual, this feature (called Intermediate Frequency Exchange by Uniden) is available in the 436hp/536hp line of scanners. I don't think that this feature is offered in every scanning receiver, but I also don't think that it is particularly unusual.

Since this feature might or might not resolve your overload problem, perhaps you can check with other radio users in your area to see if you could identify a radio that you could try out before buying something new that might or might not solve the problem. Good luck!

The 436hp/536hp certainly seem like a decent upgrade. The problem seems to be getting one in the UK.
