Iredell County has formed a team to build a simulcast system for Viper within the county. A consultant firm has been hired to work with the county to help with the build and transition. The team will meet regularly and will preform range testing in the county to learn of dead zones. This is part of a 3 year plan. All emergency services in the county will migrate to this newly formed simulcast system upon its completion.

Iredell County Commissioners have allocated 8 million dollars for this project. The county currently has multiple dead zones in the northern, central, and eastern parts of the county. Currently, 3 sites are active in Iredell County, Mooresville, Barium Springs, and Fox Mountain.

Do you have the news links? I'd like to read over them.

Also, did Statesville finally decide to join? Last I heard, they didn't seem too willing.

Mooresville will have to give a two-year notice to UASI before leaving the system. I haven't heard if that's been done as of yet.

Here are two links from the Iredell Free News.

After speaking with administration in Statesville, they do have representation on the build team. If Statesville can get the coverage that they currently have on their current system in downtown, I believe the move will be made based upon what they said.

As for Mooresville on UASI, there is plenty of time to give a termination notice. I just received a copy of the contract they signed with UASI and the City of Charlotte. I have not seen any termination requirement as of yet, granted, I have not read it all yet. If there is a requirement I'm sure it's in there.

Thanks for those links! I do remember having read the approval from the board, but hadn't heard about Mission Critical being brought on board for the oversight.

The build team consist of some department Directors/Chiefs and some "Radio Savvy" people in the county. The first meeting was last week.

It super annoying having to listen to two systems when I'm in Mooresville. I hope for no ENC on main dispatch channel.
