Is Maritime HF used in the Caribbean?

Hello, title sez it all. I'm cruising the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. I'm bringing a radio with me, maybe I can hang out at the stern (That's back of the boat, right?), hopefully the noise won't be too bad.

Girlfriend won't be happy, I don’t care.

HF maritime is used globally. find a way to drag an insulated longwire off the stern. or small loop antenna for HF.

There is not as much voice (SSB) comms on the HF maritime bands as there once was, as digital modes have taken over. Still, you never know what you might hear, such as fishing boats ragchewing with each other and weather broadcasts.

It can be done, but if you want to TX then make sure you have the correct licenses and permission from the cruse line. A friend sent me these pictures, I don't know what cruse line he took.
