Is there no desire for 996's in Canada? I had mine listed mine on ebay and it was only being bid up to $511CDN.

So just wondering

Thats a good point... the digital basically doubles the price of the BCT15 so if ppl dont have digital it may not be worth it.

That seems like a normal price for a used one doesn't it? If you are American, they sell for $525.00 new, our dollar is strong, so that's about $570cdn. I don't see the issue here...

Sorry forgot to mention it was brand-new in un-opened box.
Retails for $769 + 14% tax here.

Just my ideas to throw out there...
1) Maybe everyone who needed one bought one already or
2) Even though the 996 has more features the people are sticking with the handheld 396 as its easier to carry around
3) People are waiting for the next RS/GRE that is rumoured to be coming out later this year.

What it retails for here is really a moot point since it's available much cheaper from the US as LordJ has already pointed out.

There was a thread in another forum with pricing and the best American price was $500. Toss in 10% exchange and shipping/brokerage and you'll probably have a brand new scanner for under $600cdn.

$511cdn for a scanner from an unknown person is a reasonable price.

I doubt you would have got much more for it.

A friend of mine got a 996 when it was on sale last year. At the end of the day, he had it in his hands for under $575 Canadian. And yet the bastards at RW want close to $800...heh.

US Pricing...FYI

There was a dealer @ the Dayton hamvention with a price of $490 US dollars. I know of at least one local ham who waited till Dayton and scooped one up. Best of luck with your sale, tomandnic.

Simple supply and demand.

Try to sell it privately in Montreal - the FD there is P25.
