Hi All,

I am having some issues with the UASD software for the 396T, every 2nd
or 3rd time I open it up to change something or to reprogram the 396T
I am getting the following error message on all my system files
"System file is invalid or corrupted"

I normally keep a backup copy in a zip file so I copy this back and
all works until the next time when I get the same error message.

This is happening on both my PC at work (Windows XP Pro) and my home
laptop (Windows Vista)

Has anybody else seen this error message before and have any ideas how
to stop it happening?

Thanks but I don't think it is a virus. I am running different AV products at work and home and this is the only issue I have at the moment.

Looks like I will just have to put up with it.

Paul,

Is that an operating system file message or is it UASD saying the system (a radio system) file is corrupt? If the latter, are you doing any editing of the system files (*.usd) with any software other than UASD?

Hi,
No it is UASD saying there is an issue with the files.
I only use UASD to edit the files, nothing else.

Strange. The only time I have had an issue with this was when I tried to copy/paste data into UASD or when I edited a ".usd" file with notebook and fouled it up.

One thing I always do is this. Whenever I get ready to do any editing, I always upload from the scanner and overwrite all my data files in case I have made some changes in any system on the radio before I start any editing session. Then whenever I download into the radio after completion I always shut reconnect to the radio (disconnect / connect) and overwrite the files on my HD again. I do this last bit so that the files on the HD are exactly the same way they are in the radio (for example groups get in the proper group order within systems). Ever since being diligent about that (and being careful about external editing) I haven't gotten that error message again.

The USAD software accesses .dll and other support files from the operting systems - XP, 98, etc.

Nobody else has this problem, first I've heard of this. So I'd have to say it has something to do with your OS.

I've seen a problem close to this before years ago. When a file that contained data in specific fields was opened, it came up with a simular error. Long story short, some software that the guy had installed replaced one windows .dll that was responsable for drawing and displaying information contained within. That .dll was used by a crap-ton of other programs

Think about what other software is installed on both machines. It might be hard to track what software package might be causeing this problem tho.

You running a debugger? That could also cause problems....
