The CCNC organization has agreed to follow the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council’s (NPSTC) recommendations for interoperability channel naming conventions. The following changes will be made on all radios during the second touch of rebanding:

ICALL = 8CALL90 = CAL90

ITAC 1 = 8TAC91 = TAC91

ITAC2 = 8TAC92 = TAC92

ITAC3 = 8TAC93 = TAC93

ITAC 4 = 8TAC94 = TAC94

STAC5 = STAC

For instance, instead of seeing ICALL on your radio, you will see either 8CALL90 or CAL90 depending on the space available on your radio.

For simplex ops a "D" (as in direct) is appended to the channel designator, per the National Interoperability Frequency Guide (NIFG). For instance 8CALL90D.

Jim, is there a text-limitation in some radios such that some would have to use the shortened "CAL90", 5 character version? Which radio(s) is this?
