Jersey City FD dispatch center move.

JCFD moved there dispatch center from the Summit Ave location to the new Bishop St facility on Tuesday August 16, 2011. The PD been dispatching out of this joint dispatch center for over a year. The FD will still be using the same analog channels for now. They are experiencing difficulty with the radios and Zetron system for dispatching the companies in the stations. I guess they have to work out some bugs still.

Not so good on the start up.

The FD portion of the Bishop St communication center had to go back up to old Dispatch center on Summit Ave. During the storms the computers crashed and they lost all communications with the companies on the streets. The CAD crashed and Zetron is down too. More work is needed.

Tonight's storm was quite intense, hope there were no lives lost during it.

I was told that the issue originally arose due to conflicts between the PD & FD dispatcher's unions (back when the city finished the new dispatch center).

Once these last technical issues get resolved, the FD will use the TRS for dispatch & response, but not for on-scene operations.

The problems with the radios, CAD and Zetron have nothing to do with Unions. They have some serious technical issues. It sounds like they were back at Bishop St. today. I hope things work better for them today. One of the reasons the FD isn’t using the trunked system is that the FD doesn’t have portable radios capable of working on the digital trunked system and all the new rigs that were recently delivered didn’t come with any FD radios. But they did come with AM-FM CD players.

My bad, I was commenting on what I was told was the reason why the FD never moved into the new dispatch center. Sorry to get it confused with the hardware problems!
