We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Hello, I'm getting a burst of static on this radio occasionally. Usually about every minute or so. It is at random intervals however. Sometimes every 30 seconds, sometimes on 4-5 minute intervals. It seems like someone is keying their transmitter since it always overrides the squelch and it shows a burst on the S-meter. It is not an actual RF signal however since I have monitored the same band (2 Meters) with another radio without occurrence. Can someone give me some ideas as to what might be causing it? Thanks.

P.S. The burst only lasts about a half second.

P.S.S. The transmitter in this unit does not work at all. I'm just trying to evaluate the RX before installing a PA module.
