I am having problems with my new 2-meter radio. I have installed it like I have 5 other 2-meters. It will not transmit or receive a braodcast from a repeater. A repeater is just a burst of static. It will receive NOAA freq's and simplex. I sent the radio to FTH Group for warranty work, but they said it worked perfectly on their bench using their microphone. I have tried the original mic and 2 others with no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get this radio to work?

Need better description - its rather confusing.

For example. A TM-271A will not "transmit a braodcast from a repeater".

And what do you mean by "A repeater is just a burst of static"?

Try describing how you have this radio hooked up and what your trying to do.

A couple of things.
Check to see that you are NOT using a 'coded squelch' (only turns off squelch for a properly 'toned' received signal), unless the repeater actually uses a 'coded squelch' (rare).
Then, does that repeater use 'tones' to activate it, you'll need those. That shouldn't affect -receiving-/hearing that repeater though.
You can tell I'm not familiar with that '271, the above is just a 'general' thing.
