Kenwood: Kenwood TM-D710GA + Tone Squelch on Simplex

First time poster here. I've got the D710GA and am trying to get it to work with tone squelch on simplex.

My radio will receive all the transmissions from a number of my friend's radios (UV-5XP, a Retevis radio, and two Icom's, a ID-5100a and an ID-52a). But when I transmit on the D710G he cannot receive any of the transmissions.

Any troubleshooting suggestions?

Ok, we got it to work. Changed the CTCSS to the same tone as Rx CTCSS and voila!
