• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I will be watching this thread closely, even my dealer couldn't answer the question, I was all ready to take the dive and get a KNB-43L until I took it out of the box and it was the exact same size as the nickel metal hydride, I have one of those and it makes my 2180/NX210 suspenders dependent. I decided to stick with a new 33L which i noticed the newer ones are 2000mah instead of 1700mah. Also there was like a 30.00 price difference between the two packs. I love the 33L's size alot better.

There should be a four digit code stamped on the casing. Sometimes it can be a sticker as well.

First two digits is the year manufactured and the last two are the month.

Here is the example I found searching for the same thing.

For Motorola, first digit indicates the year and the last two digits indicate the week. So, 732 would indicate 32nd week of 2007.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Guy's {our shop too, has yet to get back to me on this}

Our KNB-33L li-ion have stamped on back of the battery's "several of ours have":

J09A J33A K14A K27A L43A N16D
J's are oldest and the N16D best we recall might be 2 years old or so ?

on the other battery, I searched on google under shopping column best price I've found so far for
a KNB43L is $88.19

the date codes for knb-33l are as follows:first letter is the year,(k=2006,l=2007,m=2008,n=2009,o=2010,etc.) the next two numbers are the week of that year. the last letter is not important.

I picked up some KNB-33L batteries recently. Can't quite figure out the date code. They range from:

T50IF to V14IG

If I follow the Letter = Year code in this thread then V would be 2017 which doesn't make sense. I've tried my local Kenwood dealer as well. He didn't know and was going to get back to me.

Thanks for any insight you may have!

Ben
