KQ2H Long continuous tone?

Any HAMS on here operate or monitor KQ2H out of Ulster County?

At 2:02 AM a long continuous tone went over for at least 3-4 minutes (1000hz or so?) , it stopped for about 15 seconds a few times in the last minutes and now at 2:36 AM It did the same thing but for only about a minute or so this time.

Just curious if this is normal or what. I have only recently started listening. Thanks!

Usually the 1000hz tone is used for testing/tuning. Maybe Alex or someone was up late doing some testing lol

They were probably using the tone to set deviation.

It might help if you gave the frequency of the repeater so people can listen. KQ2H runs multiple repeaters.

The tone you hear (2175 Hz) is used in voting systems and is normal (for now anyway) on the KQ2H 449.175 transmitter.

I used to use a 1k tone to align my voted systems, that's what it sounds like was being done. I used to do mine on Sundays when the system was quiet.

On the topic of KQ2H, does anyone have info on when Alex is reactivating the 449.225 repeater in Manhattan? It has been at least 6 years since it has been turned off. It used to be a very active repeater with great coverage in the NYC metro area.

449.225 is now in use in Jersey City on the N2ACF system...so the answer to your question is "never", at least not on that frequency.

Sorry to reply so late to this thread it kinda got behind me. To answer wK2ns said, that it is KQ2H Woodstock 449.1750
Back when I had posted this I had only just started listening to the local repeaters regularly,

I still do hear the tone quite often, it sometimes makes me jump a little bit because it is so loud compared to normal radio traffic lol so I think I will just lock it out unless I am specifically listening to the repeaters from now on as it has continued and happens about every other night now.
