Is anyone else having problems receiving digital audio from the State system with their PRO-96? My 396 sounds great and so does the 996 but it's about 90% garble from the 96. There are times it doesn't even unmute at all. The signal levels are all the same so I know it's not that.

I have tried DSP 1.3 and upgraded to 1.4 then downgraded to 1.2. Nothing seems to work.

I really with there was a fine tuning feature like the Uniden units. This problem seems to have come up recently after the complaints by users on the system. A few months back it sounded just fine.

As of right now it's bascially useless.

Much of it is garbled on the users end too, so it's not just your scanner. (I assume you're talking about monitoring the digital system, right?)

Yes, I am.

It didn't seem that bad to me at first. I used to monitor it with the 96 and 2096 all the time and they sounded great. It seems like it was around the time that we had all the bad storms that it changed.

Maybe it's my 96. I just hooked up the 2096 after having it put away in storage in anticipation of installing in the vehicle. The audio on it sounded pretty good. It's on a 7 element yagi at 25 feet so it is getting a good signal but the 96 sounded like crap on the same cable when I tested it.

Now I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem with the 96.

I have noticed this distortion as well on the system. Not just on my 2096, but also on my Astro XTL5000 in my patrol car. We took a lighting strike at central communications a few months ago. It blew out most of the consoles , Motorola and KDOT is working on getting the system backup to 100%. I noticed this distortion after the lighting strike. Now with that said, I am not getting as much distortion on my 996, so who knows.

I mainly listen to the Bonner Tower. And at 1st I thought it was my antenna , so I tried several different antennas. Same results. And I know I'm good on 800MHz because I get the KCK & Johnson County Trunk with a 90+ signal. Also Bonner & Edwardsville PD on 800MHz conventional with a clean signal.

But ,,,,, I was loking at the Signal off of the Bonner Tower on my Pro 2096 , and it's all over the map , from 92 to 57 to 79 to 00 back to 90 , 64 , 95 , 36 , 00.

Also I have 2-2096's , one in the living room , & one in the bedroom. One transmission the Living room scanner will decode it & the bedroom scanner will skip , the next transmssion the bedroom scanner will pick it up & the living room scanner will skip it. There's just no sense to it.

I give up , I'm gonna lay down & takea nap.............

That's pretty much what is happening here. The 2096 seems to do good and is keeping a solid 80-95% but the 96 is horrid. It's all over the place. At times it just gives up and no longer recognizes it as a trunked digital control channel.

The 396 seems to be fine now that I have it dialed in.

I suppose I will send the 96 in for repair just to be sure since it's less than a year old.
