I'm not familiar with the pro106 or your programming software, but since you have a premium subscription to the site, the software should be able to load it for you, cutting all the actual work out. If you want to do it from scratch, just program all the frequencies for the post in and you should be set. On mine, the KSP system is conventional, and the frequencies have the NACs are set as in the database and it works fine. If you can't figure it out from there, there are several members that watch the KY forums that will be able to help you get your scanner singing!

Hi duramaxman.... welcome to the world of digital scanning! You have a good radio but, as you have noticed, the learning curve is really steep. Take your time and learn to do one or two things at a time.... then, as you become comfortable, add more skills. Follow this link to the Kentucky State Police Page, Kentucky State Police Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference , To find this page look at the Kentucky Data Base Page, Kentucky Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference , then look on the left, under the map for "Kentucky State Agencies", under the title click on the arrow and scroll down to the Kentucky State Police listing.... I'd recommend programming all the freqs into your radio... B is usually Dispatch, A is usually car-to-car, etc.... if B is restricted then routine traffic goes to A. I also recommend using Don Starr's WIN 500 to program your scanner, it is easy to use, intuitive and a number of folks have it which makes trading files much easier... get it here Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197, PSR-310, PSR-410 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control there is a thirty day free trial, but the 35 bucks to register is money well spent. If I can help, let me know...

I have read these pages and thats where I got the freq. from. When I go to WIN500 or the program that came with my cord KSP dont show under trunked or conv. I know there not trunked...one guy told me to just enter KSP as conventional and the scanner will know what to do. So I done that and when I get to squelch mode I put it as P25. I cant figure out how to program with the software because I cant find KSP anywhere. I know it sounds wierd to you ol' pros but I just cant get it...Oh, THANKS for the info earlier.

I don't have Win500, but here is how I do it in ARC500. I open up the RR database while in ARC500 and click on the state I want, in this case, Kentucky. However instead of choosing a county, I leave that blank and I go to agencies. I then scroll down through the KY agencies and find KY State Police. When I did it a few minutes ago, all of the posts are listed and I went to Post 13. If I were to download these into my Pro 106 I would check the towers I wanted. I did see two listings for the Hazard-Perry transmitter. In the ARC500 software it automatically sets the mode for P25.

You will have to see how your Win500 program does it when you download.

I'll try to walk you thru it.... first open WIN 500 and click on WEB IMPORT and follow the radio buttons to CONVENTIONAL FREQUENCIES (see rr page 1 attachment), click on it... that presents the sign in page, sign in and click on START.... then click on COUNTRY, then STATE when the arrows darken. Don't select COUNTY, rather go to the AGENCIES IN KENTUCKY box below the Country/State/County line.... click the arrow and look for KENTUCKY STATE POLICE toward the bottom (see rr page 2 attachment). Click the minus sign to open the 18 Categories available, look most of the way down and select Cat: 1217, that is marked as KSP Post 13.... then click IMPOST SELECTED CHANNELS (see rr page 3 attachment).... That brings up Import Settings box.... un-tick the Skip Duplicate Frequencies Box. I arbitrarily assigned the KSP freqs to Scan List 19 (because that is where I have all of mine stored, habit, you know) and started the CONV Object ID at 1.... un-tick the Force APCO-25 Channels to NAC search (you know the NACs), untick the next box (Set Objects' Notes field to RR's Group/Description/Display.... go lower and select the second option under Channel Alpha Tag Format.... then click OK in the upper right hand corner (see r page 4 attachment).... rr page 5 is the result that will show in your WIN 500. From this page you can cut and paste the freqs into your existing load or manipulate your existing file using the new freqs downloaded....
If you still have trouble email the file you are using to me using the email in my signature.... I'll add the Post 13 freqs to it and send it back..... give me a couple of days, I have a long To-Do List this weekend.... The learning curve is kinda steep with the newer scanners because the business of scanning has become a lot more complex in the past few years.... There are some good pages in the Radio Reference wiki that would help you with your scanner:
Object Oriented Scanning tips - The RadioReference Wiki , Object Oriented Scanning Described - The RadioReference Wiki , GRE/RS Object Oriented Scanners FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

If you have any other questions, fire away.... there are folks on here who will help.... sometimes it is easier to go the specific PRO 106 page in the Radio Shack Forum: Radio Shack Scanners - The RadioReference.com Forums

Thank you for spending so much of your time trying to help me. I actually figured out how to do it by using ARC software. All I had to do was just leave the county blank and choose Agency. This forum is awesome and you boys helped me a lot, and I appreciate it. Now I can enjoy my scanner as it was meant to be...

Glad you got it up and running. Now that it is, study the settings, and all the ins and outs of how it entered. This will pay off tri-fold in the future if you ever have to create one from scratch, or just want to tweak what you've got.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Hey, I am having trouble with the KSP breaking up at low signal and read on hereto change the noise threshold to 50. I found that, but if I change it to 50 and lock it back, how to I save it to the scanner?

In ARC500, make your change and save the file. I'm assuming you saved your inital file. Just click on the little disk icon up at the top of the screen (it says scan). After that upload to your scanner.
