The Lakewood Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred around 3:40 am at the intersection of S. Kipling Pkwy and W. Girton Dr. A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer being driven by 37 year old Alamo Onak of Littleton was southbound on S. Kipling Pkwy. As the vehicle approached the intersection of W. Girton Dr. it struck the raised crosswalk median on the northwest corner. The vehicle then travelled across the intersection and collided head on with the traffic light standard on the southwest corner. Onak was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved.
