For those of you in LA... I recently came back in town after having been away for a long time. It seems as though the old VHF hotshot frequency on 154.83 has been shut down. Does anyone know when or why this happened? I know it is simulcasted on a P25 channel elsewhere on the spectrum, but the shutdown of the VHF is something new. Looking for some info on this.

Also, I've noticed tones that occur randomly on the dispatch frequencies. These are not morse code tones, nor are they the tones that precede crime broadcasts. If anyone else has heard these and has an idea what they are, I'd be interested to hear.

There is a thread on tac 1 being down. It just went down, and the post was the first ITA heard that it was down...no one else complained.

I have been wondering about those tones also. Hear them alot on Central Division....

This is happening too much lately...

1,

For a quicker answer, you may want to post your question in the California sub-forurm a little further down the page here. Someone from New Hampshire may not be readily able to hear what you are talking about.

Thanks Karl. Not surprising that no one really kept an eye on that channel other than the scanner people out there.
