KUSA - Jackson County Sheriff Rick Rizor tells 9NEWS that Cameron Pass between Walden and Fort Collins is closed Tuesday due to a major avalanche.
The massive avalanche closed the pass around 8:00 Tuesday morning. A huge ledge of snow remains.
Colorado Department of Transportation has requested a helicopter to come in and shoot down the ledge of snow with explosives called avalanche charges.
At noon on Tuesday, they were waiting for the weather to clear to bring in the helicopter.
Highway 14 is closed from mile marker 65 on the west side to marker 79 on the east side.
Sheriff Rizor expects the pass to remain closed for the next 24 to 48 hours.
