Guess they never heard of Kenwood. :p

More VC's for the old NCCA sites as well. Definitely needed.

Its nice to see the Sheriffs office getting updated I am sure its needed.

I can't wait to see the complaining of how DTRS does not suit the SO's needs. Yes, they did get the Bull Mountain site on the air, however they'll need a heck of a lot more 800 Mhz sites to get the same coverage with the current VHF system in the mountains, i.e the narrows and the far West side of Larimer. It should be interesting. "Sorry you went digital."???

Any progress is good progress... [/sarcasm]

I too am curious as to how LCSO will react to the wonderful world of DTR. In addition, it should be interesting to see how they plan on interfacing with some of the smaller, rural fire districts. IMHO, they would definitely be wise to keep their existing VHF system and equipment as backup to the DTRS.

The article did say they would keep their old VHF stuff heres is a quote form the article.

"Realizing the county's budget was tight, the Sheriff's Office brought down the cost by reducing the number of radios it would need, said Major Justin Smith. The office also could use a hybrid system for a while that could accommodate VHF and 800 MHz radios "

SO maybey they will take their time in implementing this system so as to get it right the first time. I hope so.
