Anybody know who belongs to City EDAC TRS talkgroup 04-023 ? from the few transmissions I've heard, it sounds like LCPD, but am not sure since the transmission are few and far between.

Thanks

Sounds like you need to set up a recorder and park a scanner on that TG ;-)

Regarding TGID 04-023 that I am trying to find out who belongs to it..... I definitely heard a call for an officer to check out a residence on the 400 block of Paloma Blanca. Nowhere in the vicinity of Las Cruces is there a Paloma Blanca, not in Dona Ana, not in Mesilla, etc.

I googled that address (choosing NM as the State) and found only Chaparral, NM, skirting NE of El Paso, up US 54 a ways having that street. Now don't tell me that the City of LC TRS works that far. There are mountains between Chaparral and Las Cruces.

Can Alamogordo hear the LC's TRS? Why Chaparral?

Anybody out in Chaparral, tune in the Las Cruces EDAC system (frequencies and LCNs are in the rr.com database), and see if you can hear it.

I think the DASO here has jurisdiction there, and DASO's radio coms have always conventional VHF.

Cruces EDACS

I live on the east side of ELP but I'll have to put Las Cruces on one of my radios just for fun and see if I can hear anything. I have an anlog rcvr that I could do a quick scan of the CCs with to see if I can hear anything at all.

Peter, have you run Unitrunker on this EDACS recently? Check to see if the radio id is the same or different everytime you hear this TG. Also, one of the sites is on top of top of Tortugas Mountain. And Chaparral is within 30 miles of Cruces so they might be able to pick up the TRS.

Hello everyone, I provide the feed for Las Cruces. When I go to El Paso, I take my scanner and you can hear the channels to about the Sun Bowl on the west side. DASO does use the LEN channel (355) a lot, even though you are correct about them usually using conventional VHF. Chaparral is on the other side of the mountain, over the Anthony Gap, but most of the community is in Dona Ana County, the rest in Otero County. You can not hear any of the Las Cruces talk groups in Alamogordo because of San Andreas Mountains, once you get to the top of Organ Pass its done. I put in the new channel in question and hearing a familiar dispatcher voice sending an animal control officer to a place in the county. It may be only for animal control but I doubt it, probably a mutli used channel like 359. I wish Billknn could talk someone in El Paso to start streaming El Paso Police and Fire! Jeff

I wish you would! I only noticed a very small electrical increase and its an all electric house. I moved all my stuff for a week or so to another location and was streaming El Paso Fire as well, but had to bring it back and have no EP reception here. I use "proscan" so the alpha tags work.......I would love to do a website for El Paso if you could only provide the feed! Jeff

Locked the "new channel" in today and heard very minimal traffic. I believe its some kind of rebroadcast of the LEN (355) channel. I heard a 10-65 (BOLO) to all DASO units to BOLO for a stolen truck. The reception is weak here in Las Cruces, so I am thinking its coming from the southern part of the county?

Jeff, thanks for the info.. but my question about 04-023 (the AFS to DEC converters on line are shut off) is can the LC trunk be heard in the Chaparral area? Just from the far and few between times I've heard the channel.. once I the dispatcher asked the officer or whoever to check out a house at 4xx (I hesitate to give the complete address.. acting like the media) on Paloma Blanca.. I tried Googling the address on "Paloma Blanca" in NM and got Chaparral, NM. Now Jeff if you could catch any other location, street, area, or other, that would give us clues.

There has been talk (in the Dona Ana database in rr.com) that Dona Ana SO will migrate to the city's trs, and besides that my peon policeman friend one time asked me if I could hear the DASO on their system, but he was unaware of what "channel" or what DASO department. I've been wildcarding 04-xxx tgid in my unidens just in case I could find another 04 tgid. I am trying to get my UniTrunker to work again and run the LC system on it.

Dumb question from me: Bill (bllknn), have you tried to listen to zip code 88001 with your Home Patrol? If you can hear LC in Chaparral (I am assuming you are in that area), you won't hear the tgid we are talking about. (Does the HP give the TGIDs it listens to?) Just want to know if LC gets into Chaparral. I am thinking that you are the one with the HP??... correct me if I am confused with someone else

Sorry, I have never tried listening to Las Cruces from the Chaparral area but do know that you cannot hear from north east El Paso, only get it after you get over the top of Trans Mountain. The channel has been somewhat active today and I really think its the "LEN channel" being rebroadcast for the southern part of the county. I used to listen to the WSMR talk groups and they would rebroadcast the fire page out channel (155.1300)............I think they are doing the same with this new channel. The only DASO I ever hear is the "LEN channel", I never hear 155.9100(DASO main channel) on the Las Cruces EDACS system.......but maybe some day

Hp-1

Peter,

Yes, I do have an HP-1 (among others) but I don't live particularly close to Chaparral. There is very little in the way of obstructions between me and Chaparral. (Ft Bliss/Biggs mostly.) There is however, a lot of rock between me and Las Cruces.

Heard another call this morning on the LC EDACS system, on talk group id 531/04-023, EMS call to location of "McCombs and Palomas". Then soon after that, came another call on Dona Ana County Fire/EMS dispatch channel summoning Chaparral and Anthony Fire to respond to that location.

Now, I know that McCombs is off Hwy 54 which goes north from El Paso to Alamo, and Chaparral is just east of Hwy 54... and Palomas (belonging to Chaparral) was the street I freaked out about couple days ago.

So my conclusion is that the TGID is DASO Chaparral.

They never used to call me Snoopy for nothing when I was a little boy.

Erik says there is a tower on A-Mountain behind NMSU.. But then, I was thinking this morning; maybe 531 is a link to the DASO's VHF freq of what? 156.21 maybe? But why should they do that?

OK, now that your using Unitrunker, look at the LID# each time you hear traffic on that TG. If it is the same LID# for dispatch and the untis in the field, it surely is a patch like you said. Also monitor 156.21 to see if you hear the same traffic.
