Haven't used my TRX-1 in a long time but I'm getting nothing in Las Vegas. I don't have the patients I did 50 years ago. Any suggestions on monitoring fire departments, EMS, etc.? I'll be here for 5 more days.

I figured simulcast was a problem as always. Just wondering if there's any conventional dispatch frequencies and other things to monitor. I'm here on vacation and the last thing I need is another scanner. I have lots of useless ones back in Denver. 50 years ago I used to love hearing the fire trucks were going. Thanks for the reply.Pick up an SDS100. Las Vegas is heavily simulcast & the TRX-1 is prone to simulcast distortion. Alternatively if you have a paperclip at your disposal you can try that for an antenna. Some here claim it works to isolate the signal to one tower for them

Consult the database. If you have any other Vegas specific questions not addressed otherwise then they'd be better off raised in the Nevada Radio Discussion Forum. Enjoy your tripJust wondering if there's any conventional dispatch frequencies and other things to monitor.
I was just staying at the Paris for 2 weeks. I heard Clark County FD on the SNACC system dispatch a call maybe a handful of times in the 2 weeks. I didn't review my recordings yet, but in the past few years they have been using MDT's or something for dispatch, because very few transmissions are heard. The EMS freqs. listed on RR here are acurate. Some have changed to NXDN, so be aware of the mode in the database. Metro obviously is encrypted. If you are just using the TRX-1, you will not hear the SNACC system.I figured simulcast was a problem as always. Good info Don. I'll have to give it a try!Pulsepoint app works great for all fd in Vegas. Then you can see what where and who is responding. Like the op said running out of patience. The app is very tuneable. you can select what you want to be alerted for
