Was doing some scanning Tonight and ran across Lawrence County Sheriff repeating the traffic from 155.670 on 453.2375 . I have no clue to how long this has been going on but I dont think they was doing this a month or 2 ago when I scanned before.

Looking at the record on the FCC site and based on the power output, I would say that it is a link between a remote and a voting system.

Ok did some research on voting, This probably is the deal with them. I have a question on this, If a walkie is transmitting on the 453 mhz channel would it also be repeated on the 155 mhz main channel? I do understand that its looking for the best possible signal from the radio's but I was wondering if these channels could be used for private use also without repeating on the main frequency.

They could be but I doubt that the officers are carrying 2 radios or multi-band radios. Besides, the FCC DB shows Law Co licensed for one transmitter on this freq. The way it is likely be used is that there is a receiver on 159.09 at some point in the county. When that receiver hears traffic, it immediately repeats that traffic back out on 453.2375. There is a receiver at some location (probably the repeater site) that is listening on 453.2375 and when it receives a signal, it passes it to the voter. The voter looks at all of the signals from all of the receivers and the one with the lowest signal to noise ratio is selected. This occurs constantly and it may switch receivers every second if the unit is moving. The voted audio is then passed to the repeater transmitter.
