I've been a Uniden BC250D owner for some time now. And my area is going digital and I was wondering how big of a learning curve is there switching to the PSR-500?

It is much easier to program with software, but it can be done manually. One just needs to remember that they are not programming into "banks" but taking "scannable objects" (frequencies) and putting them into "scanlists." The scanner automatically defaults to scanlist #1, so, if being done manually, extra caution is needed to be sure the right scanlist is selected.
