I am trying to find a resource so that I can figure out when my license was first issued. I "think" it was sometime around 1986, but just can't recall for sure. I have contacted the ARRL and the FCC and neither one of them have records for this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar issue.
I had an original license grant around 88, which expired in 98.
When i got a new license in 2007, my old one wasnt associated with my FRN, since it pre-dated the "current" system, and I dont think it ever actually got affiliated with my FRN, because is not there now at all with the rest.

That being said, have you tried the FCC ULS Lookup, under Amateur, advanced lookup:
License Search - Amateur License Search

Also, have you flat out tried to google your old call sign?

According to earliest renewal shown on ULS renewal was Submitted: 10/14/2004 at 17:36:59. So 10 or 20 years prior?

This is the QRZ 1993 Callsign Database, it goes back 10 years from 1982 to 1993. If you were licensed in 1986 it should show up by either name or callsign.

I attached an example of someone who was licensed in 1988.

It's been two weeks since the OP's only post regarding this, hasn't returned yet. I don't see him or his callsign in that resource - thank you for that, btw...I don't utilize QRZ.

I didn't pay any attention to the date of his post. I figured I'd add it for the benefit of everyone else who may also want to look up their historical data from the old callbook database (before the dark times, before the internet) FWIW I looked his name up also and found absolutely nothing. That callsign KC5 didn't come along until the early 90's, and with the creation of the no-code technician. Callsigns in the 5 district in 1986 were KA5 and maybe starting the KB5 prefixes.
